When we launched version 5.0 back in February 2025, our goal was to make your backup experience smoother and simpler. However, we quickly realized that some of the changes didn’t meet your expectations, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Our commitment to you, our users, is unwavering. We’ve read and responded to every single review, taking your feedback to heart. To address the concerns raised, we’ve set up a dedicated task force, bringing in experienced resources to fix the issues you encountered. From versions 5.0 to 5.0.9, they have been working tirelessly not only to fix these issues but also to restore and enhance the features you love, ensuring that BackWPup remains a dependable partner for your backup needs. 

With 5.1, we’re turning things around. This update is all about earning back your trust and ensuring your backup experience is as seamless as it should be.

Here’s a look at the exciting new features and enhancements we’re bringing to help address your needs and enhance your experience: 

Unlimited Backup Jobs 

We’re pleased to announce the return of unlimited backup jobs, eliminating the previous two-job limitation. Now, you can create, remove, or schedule as many backup jobs as needed, allowing for seamless integration into your workflow. 

Revamped “Backup Now” Flow 

In response to your feedback, we’ve simplified the “Backup Now” process. The button now initiates a full manual backup of your site, offering a more intuitive and effective solution. 

Enhanced Customization and Scheduling 

• Edit Backup Title: Rename backup jobs for easier identification, especially useful when managing numerous backups. 

• Schedule Hourly Frequency: Reintroduce the option for hourly scheduling, allowing for more frequent backups. 

• Select Storage Location: Choose a specific storage location for each backup job, offering greater flexibility and control. 

• Improved Error Handling: Get more informative messages and guidance to swiftly troubleshoot and resolve problems. 

Looking Ahead: Beyond Version 5.1 

The journey doesn’t end here. We are planning future updates with features like monthly scheduling options, seamless migration tools for old jobs, and enhanced integration with cloud services. 

• Monthly Frequency: Introduce the ability to schedule backups on precise dates and times each month. 

• Combined Backup: Restore the ability to back up both WordPress files and database in one job. 

• Job Migration: Seamlessly migrate old v4 jobs to the new v5 format, consolidating all your backup jobs. 

• Backup Jobs Preview: Quickly scan job settings without delving into each backup job, saving time and improving efficiency. 

• Test Configuration: Easily detect issues with cloud storage setups to ensure a reliable backup process. 

• Backup Now Sub-Buttons: Initiate immediate backups with specific configurations directly from the Backup History page for greater flexibility and control. 

• Notable Bugfixes: Address cloud integration issues, such as with Dropbox, and resolve encryption concerns.
