BackWPup 5.2 – Greater Flexibility, Greater Control

BackWPup 5.2 is here with even more of the improvements you’ve been asking for! Building on the progress we made in version 5.1, this release restores monthly backup flexibility and introduces the handy “Backup Now” button for your scheduled jobs. Our focus remains on earning back your trust and making your backup experience as seamless and reliable as it should be.

Introducing BackWPup 5.2

Let’s take a look at what’s new and how these updates can help you get the most out of BackWPup.

Monthly Frequency Enhancement:

The monthly frequency flexibility is back! In BackWPup 5.2, you can now set your monthly backup to run on any specific date you choose—not just the 1st day, 1st Monday, or 1st Sunday. This means more control and better alignment with your site’s maintenance schedules or billing cycles.

How to use: In your scheduled job settings, simply pick any day of the month for your backup to run.

“Backup Now” Button for Scheduled Jobs:

Need to run a scheduled backup immediately? With the new “Backup Now” button on every scheduled job, you can launch a backup at any time—using the job’s settings, customized data, and storage location. This is perfect for those times when you want an on-demand backup without changing your regular schedule.

Improved Toast Message Display:

Toast messages will now only appear for the most important actions, reducing notification clutter and making sure you only see what matters.

What’s Next for BackWPup

The journey doesn’t end here. We are planning future updates with features like unselect storage, seamless migration tools for old jobs, and enhanced integration with cloud services.

  • Unselect Website Server Storage: Remove the default storage location and back up only to your chosen destination.
  • Combined Backup: Restore the ability to back up both WordPress files and database in one job.
  • Job Migration: Seamlessly migrate old v4 jobs to the new v5 format, consolidating all your backup jobs.
  • Backup Jobs Preview: Quickly scan job settings without delving into each backup job, saving time and improving efficiency.
  • Test Configuration: Easily detect issues with cloud storage setups to ensure a reliable backup process.
  • Notable Bugfixes: Address cloud integration issues, such as with Dropbox, and resolve encryption concerns.

We truly appreciate your ongoing support and valuable feedback—it’s what motivates us to keep making BackWPup better. Thank you for being an essential part of our community. If you’d like to show your support and encourage our team, leaving us a review would mean so much to us.
